The I Volga Region Retail Forum took place in Samara
The retail forum was held on October 24 in Holiday Inn hotel in Samara. Public authorities and business community gathered to discuss the topical issues on retail and on retail development tendencies.
All the participants of the meeting emphasized that nowadays the purchasing power decreased. The hugest part of sales today is made online, nevertheless it is noted that offline sale won’t disappear from the market.
Sergey Zavyalov, the operating Russian (Samara) officer of Auchan, told about the main criteria on which goods by local producers can reach the shelves of the Auchan grocery shops: “Firstly, it has to be the so-called “favourite brand” of the population that is confirmed by the corresponding market researches. Or price for goods of local suppliers lower than the federal price. Thirdly, when the local producer covers requirements of Auchan shops – for example, now we observe difficulties with supply of salad in pots – in the Samara Region production of this product isn’t engaged. There are some more criteria by which the contractor can become the supplier of Auchan: it is electronic document flow, it should be an organization which regularly pays taxes, it can be only the producer (not the distributor).”
Participants of the meeting came to the conclusion that today retail is directed, first of all, to emotions: the structure of consumption of goods changes, people sell to people, criteria of staff recruitment respectively change. Now besides customer focus personnel officers put in a priority such quality as hospitality. Concerning management of the human capital the retailers recommend to organize teams, to create good conditions for work where both the salary, and opportunities to influence the future of the organization are deeply valued. Besides it is important to develop motivational strategies. However, work with personnel can’t be productive without smoothly running business processes.
