Production and distribution of energy resources holds 9.4% of regional industrial production. The ratio of the Samara Region in Russia’s total electricity capacity is more than 2%.
One of the largest hydroelectric stations in the world Zhigulyovskaya Hydroelectric Station is located in the Samara Region. It produces 42% of total energy in the region.
For the last five years, the energy system of the Samara Region has been experiencing surplus capacity. In the long view, the capacity of the current working stations will be enough until 2021 to provide reliable power supply to consumers of electricity.
